Akira Jacobs is a 6-foot-10 junior forward from Yokohama, Japan, born to a Japanese mother and an American father who was serving in the U.S. military. Jacobs was the first-ever Japanese prospect to join the NBA Global Academy on a full-time basis before enrolling at Hawaii, where he played two seasons and averaged 6.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Between his freshman and sophomore years, Jacobs represented Japan at the 2024 Paris Olympics and had previously competed for the Japanese national team at the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup, where he averaged 17.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He transferred to Fordham for the 2025-26 season under new head coach Mike Magpayo and has started 24 of the Rams' 25 games.
