The 6-3 combo guard from Toledo attended Whitmer High School, where he averaged 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists as a junior, leading the Wildcats to the state semifinals. He was named the Toledo Blade Player of the Year in 2024 and ranked as the No. 18 guard and third-best player in Ohio. West chose Purdue over offers from Nebraska, Dayton, Michigan, and Ohio State.
