Bryce Hopkins began his college career at Kentucky in 2021-22, appearing in 28 games off the bench under John Calipari and averaging 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds. He transferred to Providence, where he blossomed into one of the Big East's best players. As a sophomore with the Friars, Hopkins earned first-team All-Big East honors after averaging 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. His trajectory was derailed in January 2024 when he suffered a torn ACL, costing him most of his junior season. He returned to game action in December 2024 but played only three games before a bone bruise shut him down again in late January 2025. Ranked among the top-10 transfers in the portal, Hopkins committed to St. John's in March 2025, bringing his combination of size, skill and Big East experience to Rick Pitino's roster in Queens as he looks to recapture his pre-injury form.
