A three-sport prep athlete at Word of God Academy, Forte signed with UNC Asheville out of high school but appeared in only two games before enrolling at Gulf Coast State College. He emerged at the JUCO level, averaging 20.1 points and 5.8 assists per game as a sophomore and earning All-FCSAA and All-NJCAA Region 8 honors. He then spent a season at Northwestern State in 2023-24, averaging nearly 10 points and 4 assists per game across 32 Division I games. He made his biggest leap at South Dakota in 2024-25, starting 32 of 33 games, averaging 17.9 points and 3.2 assists, winning the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year award, and earning First Team All-Summit League honors. Boston College coach Earl Grant brought Forte in as the Eagles' most experienced perimeter addition for 2025-26.
