Elmarko Jackson arrived at Kansas as a four-star prospect and McDonald's All-American out of South Kent School in Connecticut, ranked as the No. 4 point guard in the 2023 class. The 6-3 guard from Syracuse, New York had previously attended the Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, where he averaged 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game as a junior. Jackson chose the Jayhawks over Texas, Maryland, Notre Dame, and Miami. As a true freshman in 2023-24, he started 17 games and averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 assists in 18.6 minutes per game. His trajectory was derailed when he tore his patellar tendon during a KU basketball camp scrimmage in June 2024, costing him the entire 2024-25 season. Jackson rehabbed with the program and was cleared with no restrictions heading into the 2025-26 campaign, entering his third year at Kansas but just his second season of game action.
