Josiah Shackleford is a senior forward who provides scoring punch off the bench, averaging 5.1 points in 11.4 minutes per game. He does his damage in the paint, not from the perimeter.
Josiah Shackleford took one of the longer roads to Division I. The 6-foot-9 forward from Greenville, North Carolina spent two seasons at Brunswick Community College, earning two-time NJCAA All-American and Region 10 Player of the Year honors, before spending a year at Florida Gulf Coast. He then transferred to Division II Georgia Southwestern State, where he averaged 17.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game on 56.2% shooting — making the third-most field goals in a single season in program history and recording seven double-doubles. An NCAA ruling granting non-NCAA athletes an extra year of eligibility gave Shackleford one more shot at Division I. He had been recruited by Daniyal Robinson while Robinson was at Cleveland State, and when Robinson landed at North Texas, Shackleford followed without hesitation.
