Kellen Thames is a junior guard who provides scoring punch off the bench, averaging 9.4 points in 16.9 minutes per game. He is one of the most efficient scorers in the A10, converting 66.7% of his shots. He does his damage in the paint, not from the perimeter.
Kellen Thames is a true Saint Louis product who has remained loyal to SLU throughout his career. The son of Pattonville High School head coach Kelly Thames, Kellen set the school's scoring record while averaging 22.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.4 steals as a senior, earning two-time Missouri Class 6 All-State honors from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. His connection to the program runs deep, as SLU associate head coach Corey Tate is Thames's godfather. He committed to the Billikens and appeared in seven games as a true freshman in 2022-23. As a redshirt freshman in 2023-24, Thames played in all 33 games as SLU's sixth man, averaging 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds with a first-career double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds at Southern Illinois. He started the 2024-25 season on a tear, averaging 14.8 points and 7.5 rebounds through the first four games, but an injury limited him to 17 games and eight starts. Now healthy, the guard brings toughness and institutional knowledge to the 2025-26 Billikens.
