He helped the Panthers to a 29-6 record, a Big South championship, and an NCAA Tournament berth while averaging 13.1 points on 52 percent shooting. Before High Point, Hamilton spent his freshman year at Mississippi State. In high school at Clinton High School, he was named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year — making him and his father Tang Hamilton (1996-97) the first father-son duo to win the award in the state. He was a four-star recruit ranked No. 80 on ESPN's top 100 list.
