Oscar Cluff took one of the most unconventional paths in college basketball to reach Purdue. The 6-11 center from Queensland, Australia, grew up as a swimmer and competitive surfer who also played rugby and soccer, only picking up basketball at age 15. He began his American college career at Cochise College in Arizona, where he earned NJCAA second-team All-American honors as a sophomore after averaging 18.2 points per game. Cluff then transferred to Washington State for his junior season, appearing in all 35 games with 23 starts and averaging 7.0 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. His breakout came at South Dakota State, where he posted a dominant double-double of 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, ranking fourth nationally in rebounds per game and second in offensive rebounds. Ranked as the No. 1 transfer in the country by On3, Cluff committed to Purdue in March 2025 for his final season of eligibility.
