Pierre Couisnard is the son of former Wichita State standout P.J. Couisnard, who scored more than 1,300 career points for the Shockers from 2003 to 2008 and now serves as an assistant coach on the staff. The younger Couisnard overcame a five-year rehabilitation from a patellar fracture to resume his basketball career at Legacy School of Sport Sciences in Houston, where he played under his father and averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds as a senior. The 6-1 guard from Houston signed with Wichita State as a true freshman.
