When Schertz left for Saint Louis, Avila followed, transferring in April 2024. He earned second-team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2024-25, averaging 17.3 points and 6.9 rebounds. The 6-foot-10 center returned for his senior season in 2025-26 as the Billikens' anchor.
