Trey Kaufman-Renn arrived at Purdue as one of Indiana's most decorated high school players. A product of Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, Indiana, he became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,832 points and 867 rebounds. As a junior, he earned Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors after averaging 25.8 points and 9.6 rebounds, leading Silver Creek to a No. 1 state ranking before COVID-19 ended the season. His senior year proved even more memorable, as he averaged 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 blocks while leading Silver Creek to the 2021 Class 3A state championship. He finished as the runner-up for Indiana Mr. Basketball behind Purdue teammate Caleb Furst. Ranked in the top 40 nationally by multiple services, Kaufman-Renn chose Purdue over offers from Indiana, North Carolina, and Virginia, committing in October 2020. After contributing off the bench in his early seasons and playing behind Zach Edey, Kaufman-Renn has grown into a key frontcourt piece for the Boilermakers.
