Waka Mbatch is a sophomore forward from Serekunda, Gambia, whose basketball journey began with a five-inch growth spurt at age 14 — before that, he was an all-star soccer midfielder. He attended Kotu Senior Secondary School and played at Hope Basketball Academy, where he averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds and was named Defensive Player of the Year after leading his team to a Gambian premier division championship. He spent two seasons at Florida State, appearing in seven total games, before transferring to Montana State for 2025-26. Coach Matt Logie praised him as a young man who speaks five languages and will be a tremendous addition to the program. He is the first international player signed by Logie since taking over as head coach.
