A Bishop Gorman graduate who led his program to three consecutive Nevada state titles and was ranked as high as No. 43 nationally in the Class of 2021, Collins was on track to sign with UNLV before a December 2020 automobile accident killed a 52-year-old man. Collins pleaded guilty to manslaughter and reckless driving in June 2023, serving 90 days in jail before returning to basketball at Salt Lake City College. He enrolled at Fresno State through the university's Project Rebound program and walked onto the team. Coach Vance Walberg gave him a scholarship, and Collins rewarded the trust by leading the Bulldogs in points, assists, and steals in 2024-25. He entered the transfer portal last spring before withdrawing and returning to Fresno State.
