Zuby Ejiofor arrived at St. John's as a relatively unknown transfer from Kansas, where he appeared in 25 games as a freshman averaging just 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 season. A four-star recruit out of Garland High School in Texas, where he averaged 22 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and two steals as a senior, Ejiofor paid his dues off the bench during his first year in Queens, putting up 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds as a sophomore. The breakout came in 2024-25, when he more than tripled his scoring average to 14.7 points on 57.7 percent shooting and led all of Division I in offensive rebounding at 4.4 per game. That earned him Big East Most Improved Player honors, first-team All-Big East, and the co-captaincy from his teammates as the Red Storm won their first outright regular-season title in 40 years. Named Big East Preseason Player of the Year entering 2025-26, Ejiofor also landed on the Naismith Trophy late-season watch list.
