Marcis Ponder is a 6-11, 328-pound center from Miami's Liberty City neighborhood, one of eight siblings who grew up in the Scott Homes housing projects. A two-time national champion on the New Balance P32 AAU circuit, he has drawn comparisons to Shaquille O'Neal for his massive frame and rim-rocking presence. Playing at Gillion Basketball Academy in Springfield, Virginia, for his senior year, Ponder committed to Florida State under coach Luke Loucks in July 2025, citing the Seminoles' relentless recruiting effort of attending every one of his games.
