Miikka Muurinen is a 6-10 power forward with a 7-3 wingspan from Jarvenpaa, Finland, whose parents are both former professional basketball players — his father Kimmo played 153 games for Finland's national team, and his mother Jenni Laaksonen played college basketball at North Carolina. After attending AZ Compass Prep, he signed a three-year deal with Partizan Belgrade at age 17, becoming the youngest player on their EuroLeague roster. Muurinen won the inaugural EuroBasket Rising Star Award and represented Finland at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He left Partizan in late February 2026 to pursue the NCAA, and as of March 2026 remains uncommitted with Duke widely considered the frontrunner.
