Conference Overview
The Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division I athletic conference in the United States, founded in 1896. Though historically overshadowed by other conferences in basketball, the Big Ten has claimed national championships through Indiana (five titles), Michigan State (2000, 2005), Michigan (1989), and Ohio State (1960). Tom Izzo's Michigan State program has been the gold standard of Big Ten basketball for three decades, while Indiana's Bob Knight-era dominance remains one of the sport's most celebrated dynasties.
