The Missouri Valley Conference, founded in 1907, is one of the oldest college athletic conferences in the United States and holds the distinction of being among the strongest mid-major basketball leagues in the country. Loyola Chicago's remarkable run to the 2018 Final Four — led by Sister Jean and fueled by the team's faith and defense — put the MVC on the national map, but the conference has been producing tournament-worthy teams for decades. Bradley, Drake, Illinois State, Indiana State, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and Valparaiso form a competitive mid-western league.
