The Big South Conference, founded in 1983, serves mid-sized universities primarily in the Carolinas and Virginia. Winthrop, Campbell, High Point, Longwood, Presbyterian, UNC Asheville, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, and Radford compete in a conference that has produced several memorable NCAA Tournament upsets.
