Conference Overview
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, founded in 1970, serves Historically Black Colleges and Universities primarily in the Mid-Atlantic states and the Carolinas. Howard, Morgan State, Coppin State, Norfolk State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Delaware State, South Carolina State, Bethune-Cookman, and Hampton compete in a conference that shares the HBCU basketball tradition with the SWAC. Norfolk State's stunning 2012 upset of Missouri as a 15-seed stands as one of the MEAC's finest NCAA Tournament moments, demonstrating the quality of coaching and competitive spirit within the conference.
